City Details:

Acapulco is a coastal city located in the state of Guerrero, Mexico. The city has a long and rich history, dating back to pre-Columbian times when it was a major trading port for the Aztec Empire. During the colonial era, Acapulco became an important hub for the shipment of goods from the Philippines to Mexico and Spain. In the mid-20th century, the city became a popular tourist destination, particularly among celebrities and wealthy tourists.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Acapulco's popularity as a tourist destination was fueled by a number of factors. First, the city's beautiful beaches, stunning natural scenery, and warm climate made it an ideal location for sun, sand, and sea activities. Additionally, Acapulco was conveniently located near major cities in the United States, making it a popular destination for American tourists. Finally, the city's glamorous reputation was enhanced by the presence of high-end resorts, nightclubs, and casinos, which attracted celebrities such as Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, and Elvis Presley.

Overall, Acapulco's combination of natural beauty, convenient location, and luxurious amenities made it an attractive destination for tourists and celebrities alike in the 1950s and 1960s.

There have been several periods of time when Acapulco was considered dangerous to visit. In the mid-2000s, the city saw a sharp increase in violence related to the drug trade, which led to a decrease in tourism. In 2012, the U.S. State Department issued a travel warning and urged U.S. citizens to avoid non-essential travel to the city.

Since then, the security situation in Acapulco has improved tremendously in tourist areas with cameras and police and travel warnings have been lifted in recent years but people are still sleeping on this beautiful city! So I am here to wake ya’ll up!
